The Geography of Community vs. The Geography of Philanthropy

Two distinct geographies revealed by the v0 NYC pilot.

Lebanese diaspora concentrates where the community settled: New York metro, Detroit, Los Angeles, the Boston suburbs. The Maronite parishes, restaurants, and cultural shops trace these same neighborhoods. This is the geography the gala targets.

But the institutional infrastructure that funds Middle East Christian causes lives elsewhere. Washington DC alone accounts for 15.8% of the prospect pool — ATFL, IDC, Heritage, Hudson, FRC, ACLJ, Catholic University of America, In Defense of Christians. Boston metro adds 7.6%. Memphis adds 1.0% through ALSAC. New York metro represents 7.9% — the community capital, but not the institutional capital.

The implication for USEK: NYC events activate the community. Washington relationships unlock the institutional channels. These are two distinct cultivation operations — different cities, different keystones, different events, different cadences. The capital campaign needs both prongs, sequenced together.
